How Does Yale Know Our Faces?

I have AP Gov test tomorrow, well, this morning, and I can't concentrate.
I've just been to Dartmouth forum and, well, see for yourselves...

Lit and Bio tests are also overlapping. The school's trying to kill me.

Anyway, I'm so sleepy I'll just be quick with my question.

You know how Yale students say that their deans know the students' faces even before coming to school because they had already seen them or something?

Are our pictures included in the Mid Year Report or Final Year Report, or do we send them out individually?

Just curious. I always thought it was amazing how school faculties recognized "freshmens" faces. Even in my highschool, 500 kids in each class, sickly crowding, no kidding, get out...

I always seem to ask the most trivial questions. Hm.

I don't know if there is any connection to Yale but almost 30 years ago when I went to Duke. Every matriculating freshman was expected to provide a photo of themselves. it was then published in the freshman directory that was distributed to every freshman. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had also been given to faculty. The funny thing I remember about that directory though was that it was VERY popular with the upperclassmen males on campus.

Anyhow, maybe at a much later point, photo's are obtained.

You send the picture along with some other forms in mid-summer. It is used to create your student ID, and apparently, the image must also become part of a personal file accessible by the master.

^^smoda, Yale creates a freshman directory as well, but I don't remember that questionaire asking for a photo; just a short bio, and some general questions about interests. The admitted student website allows students to download pictures and last spring, most did. And with the advent of facebook, the catalogue shopping for freshman coeds is much easier.

Facebook, modern life has different tools. :)

I think I still have my directory somewhere. For laughs, I should try and find it.

it's likely that they are most interested in what kinda people we are as opposed to how we look.

^^Yes, Yale men no longer care about the physical appearance of coeds. They are so incredibly evolved. If only.

I seem to recall that back in the day the directory was called the Facebook.

Was it really? How funny!

The thing I found most amusing that year was that there was this one particular girl that every upperclassman male on campus was looking for. All because of her directory photo. These shallow guys got what they deserved because apparently she had a REALLY good photographer because she did not look like the picture.

Yeah, I find it really creepy when people I don't know know my name. o.O Yale, if you're listening, take note!
