<p>I got into Yale in 1978. I applied to Yale and Harvard. My best friend did the same. She got into Harvard, not Yale. I got into Yale, not Harvard. We were convinced that they throw the apps in the air and the ones that fall in the circle are in and those out the circle are rejects. Has to be worse now with over 20,000 applications each year.</p>
