Whenever I post my unweighted and weighted GPA on CC people are always very surprised at the significant difference.

At my school for Honors they add .05 to your UW GPA, and 0.07 for AP classes.

This makes a huge difference if someone like myself has been taking honors all throughout high school. For instance I've take 11 honors classes so the added weight to my GPA is .65

My school adds for APs
95-100 overall average in the course: +1 point on GPA
90-95: +.7
85-90: +.5
So they r pretty generous about it. 5 good ap averages potentially means 5 extra points on ur GPA which is why many seniors have averages up to 104

My school adds for AP classes as well, but not to the GPA itself, but the final grade of the class.
A’s get five extra points and B’s and C’s get four extra points.
We had all assumed that A’s would get 5, B’s would get 4, C’s would get 3, and if you got a D, then you didn’t really deserve to get extra points. But apparently, there is some mathematical formula they use to figure out the points.

My school doesn’t do anything at all whatsoever. AP and Honors classes have precisely the same value as normal classes. People only take AP classes if they want to challenge themselves.

My school adds 0.01 for Honors and 0.1 for AP classes but I don’t believe that they are directly added to the GPA but to the class score. Which would only then increase the GPA by a very small amount. This is done to influence class rank according to GC.

We don’t get points added to the GPA directly, but to the classes themselves. We are on a 4.0 scale.

Honors classes receive NO ADDED WEIGHT. AP classes get a .5 boost to the individual classes themselves. Little effect when averaging GPA until many APs are taken.

Yes! They all should, unless all students don’t give a ****! My school offers an honors alternative for almost everything except English 12, and just that is sufficient to drive me crazy. What if I don’t want AP English Lit?
