How does your undergrad GPA work out if you transfer to a better school?

I am planning to transfer to a top 20 school from my current college and I was wondering how my GPA would play out. What would happen if I had gotten a near 4.0 from both schools? I am applying to law school so I was wondering how they would look at it.

For law school, you would just sent the schools your transcripts from both institutions and they’ll evaluate the GPAs on both as well as your LSAT. Obviously, a 4.0 from both schools is ideal and would really help you out, but also couple that with a good LSAT score.

Really getting into law school is just numbers. They may factor in the rigor from the institution attended, but if you can get a 4.0 or close from both schools, that’s pretty good.

I was thinking about t14 schools, especially HYS when I’m talking about law school. Would it still just be your GPA and LSAT they look at?

Well, they would also look at your essay/personal statement. The essay is a good time to showcase your writing skills, as well as explain any bad grades and such.

What’s your major? Just wondering because I’m also a pre-law student and currently majoring in philosophy.
