I did read another thread that was about engineering in uva
but I want to compare uva engineering to that of U.Mich. and UIUC

if you were accepted to all those schools of eng which one would you go?
I am applying next year and I am thinking whether I should apply uva as Early or not. If I dont apply as Early ...I might not get in... so ..(early decision is bit easier .. you know;; ) so

How do you guys think about uva Eng ? is it o.k? uva is well-rounded school...

uva isn't known for engineering, and out of the 3 schools you listed it's program is the weakest. that being said, engineering at uva is very good and e-schoolers are very smart and they get great job offers, specifically in systems engineering.

However, out of the 3 schools you mention, UVa is the best overall for undergrad, and if you choose not to major in engineering, you will be able to transfer into the college - which is universally strong in almost every department.

HyunJ, pay attention to what jags said. While UVA might not necessarily compare well to UIUC and UMich (which are arguably among the very best nationwide), it provides a perhaps the best overall education of the three and the best social life. Should you decide that engineering isn't for you (which isn't entirely improbably; people switch majors all the time and engineering isn't exactly a discipline that people are exposed to in HS.) Make sure to visit all three before making any decisions, though.

yeah, like amnesia said, UVa is the MOST beautiful campus ive ever seen (maybe most beautiful place ever) annnd flippin Thomas Jefferson founded it, the history is unparalleled.
i think that with all this it would be the best for an undergrad engineering degree, save one of the more well known universities for the grad degree
imo...
