How early is too early

I will be entering college in Fall 2020. As of right now, my bay far #1 is Iowa State for engineering. It’s by far the cheapest and also isn’t too far from home. They opened application On the first, so i applied and got in. Should I accept the offer or wait? The earlier I except the better chance I get at the housing I want and I also can qualify for more scholarships(they have this thing called OneApp where they give out a bunch of money to earlier people). If I accept, I pay a $300 fee that I can get 90% back by May 1st if i back out. So I’d lose $30 if I backed out, but I’d have almost a year to change my mind. I love the school, visited it and loved it even more. My #2 is UIUC, but its 5-10k more yearly and I really don’t like it as much.

Thanks!

You don’t have to accept admission this early but if it puts your mind at ease go ahead. You can always change your mind later if something comes up.

If I accept now though I’m basically guaranteed the housing I want and also I can get more scholarships since they give out more earlier on.

If you only lose $30 if you change your mind, might as well. Just make sure your parents are on board. Congrats! Enjoy a stress free senior year!

Yes, go for it! So wonderful that you have such a good opportunity this early!

I would definitely do it! We did it for three schools so that whichever he decided on he would have the best housing option. Iowa State is an excellent engineering school. I have an intern from there that is great! Good luck!

It’s literally a $30 commitment - just do it.

Depends, are you getting a loan for the $30.00?

Great opportunity. Go for it.

Thanks for all the responses. I did it! Thanks everyone!

(I wasn’t worried about losing the $30, just wanted to throw it in there to show that I really wasn’t losing much at all  )
