I'm fortunate enough to be in the top 10% of my class (Which makes me an auto admit). I was wondering since i don't have to worry too much about competition when applying and writing some awe inspiring essays should I apply now or just wait until the deadline?

If you’re looking into business or engineering, you should probably apply now.
Doesn’t really matter for the other majors.

What if someone is not an auto admit? Then how soon? If you apply soon but aren’t an auto admit butg with great stats will they let you know early or will you have to wait until the spring?

For the Business and Engineering colleges, they now recommend submitting the application as soon as possible in early August because those programs close admission to freshmen when their admission quota is reached. For Mays Business, it’s 850 freshmen.

My daughter applied in August and received her acceptance on Saturday (Sept. 12).

I’d go ahead and add Architecture to the list of colleges to apply early for. There is an actual number cap of students in the College of Architecture due to space constraints, every student has their own desk/locker in the Architecture building. The entire college graduate & undergrad is at 1475 -roughly only 200 freshmen are admitted each year into 5 degree programs - it is very competative.

If you are not an auto-admit - it is very important to apply early! My daughter was not auto-admit either, she applied around Thanksgiving and was admitted in early January. I wouldn’t wait unitl the deadline, the earlier the better.

If you are not an auto admit…APPLY EARLY!!! But do NOT sacrifice a good application just to apply early…make sure your app is completed to the best of your ability before applying

Youdon’tSay,

My friend’s twins applied right before Thanksgiving last year (no auto-admit, no top 10). One received admission around Dec 10th and the other a few weeks later.

Thanks for the info. He might be pushing the button on his app this weekend.

Yay! My son just pushed the button (he should be auto-admit). The scholarship questions were SO annoying though. After he said that we would NOT be requesting need-based aid (which we wouldn’t get anyway), it proceeded to ask 4-5 more nosey questions about how much we made and what assets we had… what is that about?
