How early should I expect a response?

I slaved on my essays all summer and submitted my application August 6th. My LORs, transcript, and test scores were all recieved by mid-September. For those of you who go to UMich, when did you get a response?

It depends on your stats as well.

I’ve heard it depends on stats also. Most students who are clear cuts or acceptence hear back sooner.

If your credentials are stellar, you may learn of your acceptance the first week in November. While my son’s situation may have been extreme, my advice based on his experience is to expect a long wait. His app was in by mid September, he learned he was deferred after Christmas-nothing on WA-and then was ultimately accepted the first week in April (ACT 32/SAT 2130, many leadership ECs, double legacy, 7 APs w/4’s and 5’s BUT 3.5 GPA). His friend who submitted his app on the November 1 deadline was admitted April 17. There was little or no information provided during the wait. FWIW-he is happy to be attending now.

Oh wow, if he is in-state sorta surprise to see he was deferred.

^ 3.5 GPA is pretty low for Michigan so I’m not too surprised. I’d expect admissions officers to deffer him to see how he does senior year.

OP, since you sent your app by mid-September I wouldn’t be surprise if you hear in early November.

( Quick question: If you already know your UMID, why wouldn’t your account go through when filling the information in for new and perspective student application tracker website, everyone has to hear back from the university reguardless if you already know your UMID or what?)

Yeah a 3.5 is below UM average, but I thought the 32 ACT would balance well enough.

^ Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised either, but it depends on his stats.

Yeah, I guess it could have gone either way…we don’t know everything though…maybe he had a downward trend and the admissions person wanted to see how his senior year would go before admitting him. I too would think that a combination of his ACT, EC’s, and legacy would make up for his GPA, but I guess not.

Sorry, I don’t understand your quick question…have you applied yet?

[Yes I’ve just applied, made my friend account then tried to set everything up so I can track my application ( all rec’s are submitted also) so went to Wolverine Access account to enter my already known UMID, birthday etc… and everything was rejected]

So you created a friend account, logged on WA, and put in your UMID, right?

Are you saying that when you log in wolverine access, they won’t take your UMID and you can view your account at all? Are you sure your typed in your ID correctly? o_O If you typed everything correctly and it’s still not working, I’d call U of M sometime. There might have been a mix up or something.

or

If you got on and they just haven’t received materials yet, don’t worry; it takes them a while to update WA sometimes…

Yeah I’m more concern about UMID error, since that is the ID place on my application…yeah I know.

Well according to UM website your school ID is above your address, eight digits. After submitting my application today, I made a friend account, then proceed to wolverine access account were you digit your ID and birthday so you can track your application, since I know that material I simply used it and got rejected. I’m not sure what went wrong, maybe I still have to recieve mail from the school first.

^ Yeah I recently submitted my app and just got the email saying they received stuff and are looking forward to reviewing it. I set up a friend account but when I tried to log in with the login email and birthday and UMID, it wouldn’t work.

I guess I have to wait for their email telling me the UM ID? (I got mine over the summer in an email before I submitted my app)

You guys, the same thing happened to me you just have to wait a few days it with be fine.

Just begin checking it periodically once the first results start coming in.

How would you know when the first results come in?

Come to CC. :P
