5boys. I’m just a dork that’s all. My D keeps saying “I don’t know what you are going to do next year!”
And my D can’t wait to get out of high school and get training and so is motivated!

You are right that there’s a let down when your kid is ensconced in a theater program. All that driving, all that listening to monologues, all those songs after dinner…all over. (It helps if your kid is deliriously happy at the place they land, but it’s still an adjustment.)

5boys-- I have same problem with my D. I am glad I am not the only one who is in cold sweat after reading CC!

bisouu-- your posts here are very helpful, thank you! I told my D about Chapman and she scheduled the audition, I will tell her tomorrow about Fordham as well. She told me that no audition can be scheduled until she submits applications and I am very worried she will not get the dates we need. I can only travel to US twice this winter.

We have not turned in our app for Fordham and our audition is scheduled. Same for Chapman. We have confirmation on both. Go ahead and do those and see what happens. :)

5boys, you will have just missed the fall mainstage at Kenyon–you’re arriving right after Parents Weekend, which is when they do the first big production (“Noises Off” this year). But it looks like there’s a senior thesis show going up a couple of weeks after your visit–your son may be able to sit in on a rehearsal. You might e-mail either admissions or the department (Kris Conant used to be the drama dept secretary, and I think she still is) and see if they can connect your son with some theater students. We did that for some h.s. friends while my daughter was there, and it was a lot more enlightening than watching a finished production, honestly! Sounds like your son wants to see what it’s really like to be a student there. I’ll be in the area the previous weekend for the fall show at my son’s school–he’s doing tech, but it still feels like a big deal. :)
