I am a recently accepted engineering transfer student and am wondering what it’s like to transfer to Columbia. Are there any planned activities after orientation week? Are transfers placed in the same dorm? Is it really challenging to complete the Core requirements along with the engineering curriculum? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!
Hey! I transferred last year. Orientation is great, though there aren’t planned activities afterwards. It hasn’t been difficult at all to make first-year or non-transfer friends, and on the other hand, some of my closest friends transferred in with me. Transfers are placed into different dorms; I was put in Hartley which is smack dab in the middle of campus. I’m in CC, but I’ve heard that the core isn’t harder for transfers since we get some classes exempted. I hope this helps.
