How easy is it to change a major at a CSU?

I picked Film as my major for most CSUs I applied to but I’m think about changing that to either Mechanical or Computer Engineering if I get accepted in.

Is this a hard or easy process?

Depends upon each CSU and their change of major requirements. You would need to go to each school’s website and find their change of major policies. For impacted majors and campuses, it can be difficult for example SLO. If you do not meet the criteria as an Engineering admit directly out of HS (GPA/Test scores), it is very difficult to change majors.

Which CSU’s did you apply?

Do you know the policies for changing majors at SFSU/requirement for changing to an engineering major?
I’ve already gotten into SFSU for Film but defiently wanting to change that.

I find myself to be pretty bad at math so I really want to motivate myself to get better. I really would like to work with sometype of aerospace company, as I am fascinated by space.

Edit: I applied to: Chico, Fresno, SJSU, SFSU, CalStateLA, and CSUMB.

Here is some information for SFSU and changing your major to Engineering. I have no first hand experience but you might want to contact admissions and see if you it is possible to change majors at your Freshman orientation along with looking over the Engineering curriculum. If you are “bad” at Math, Engineering may not be the best option.

What will be the highest level of math you will have at end of Senior year?

Below is a link to the ME curriculum and CE curriculum for SFSU:

http://bulletin.sfsu.edu/colleges/science-engineering/engineering/bs-computer-engineering/roadmap.html

My highest math out of HS will be Pre-Calculus Honors.

I know it’s not the best option, but it’s something I want to do.

Best of luck and it is always better to contact the Engineering department and advisors to get the most accurate information about changing majors. Many schools require a set of specific courses and GPA requirement before you change or declare the major.

I just emailed SFSU asking for their requirements and such…

Thank you for your help.
