I’m a prospective student, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll double major in Political Economy and Math or Computer Science (AB not BS) if I go to Georgetown. Of course, with these majors, I am applying to the College. With all the requirements for the college plus two majors, will I have any time left for electives even if I am willing to take five classes every (or at least most) semesters?
I think any double major is a lot of work. Easy is a relative term. Can you effectively manage focuses in two areas of study? Some courses between the majors may overlap, giving you a chance to add another class.
@DaedricSaiyan Thanks for your reply. You’re right, “easy” was the wrong term to use. What I mean is, assuming I’m able to manage my workload in two majors and everything, will I have any time for other electives outside of Pol. Econ. and Math/CS and the College’s requirements?
How much AP/IB credit you have coming in will probably significantly impact the answer.
@dzleprechaun I will have 8 APs, almost definitely with 5s on all of them: US Gov, Comparative Gov (which Georgetown may not take), Spanish Lang, Microecon, Macroecon, Calc BC, Stat, Comp Sci
@2016senior2020 Yea, I mean, the course requirements for all the majors are all online, as are the core requirements and the AP credit policies. So, with a little bit of research, you can map out what all courses you would need to take to cover both majors plus the core requirements, subtracting those that are covered by APs. At first glance, 8 APs looks like it would definitely free up some slots, but you’ll need to do a bit of legwork if you want to be absolutely sure.
