How easy is it to double major?

Hi,
I checked on the UMich website, and wasn't able to find any really useful info, so I'm here. Is it possible to do a double major in Comp. Sci and Physics? Are the distribution requirements so large that I cannot do it in 4 years, or have to sacrifice a load of electives?

Thanks :D

Do you plan on being in the College of Engineering or in LSA?

They both have different concentration plans, depending on if you want a BSE or a BS, respectively.

It’ll be easier if you pursue the dual major within the same school.

A dual major in LSA is not difficult to do during four years but requires some focus because a major usually requires 30 credit hours. Distribution requires about another 30 hours.

I guess it would depend on how much they overlap. I;ve been looking into this too for some degrees. My advice would be to try to find sample schedules online for both and see how they overlap.

Personally, I considered a multitude of different things I wanted to study, among others:

Poli Sci + English + Secondary Teaching Certificate

Public Policy + English (not allowed)

Poli Sci + English minor (doesn’t exist)

Poli Sci BA/Public Policy MPP (which then is parlayed into MPP/JD or MPP/MSI)

Poli Sci Concentration + Philosophy (Moral and Political Philosophy) Minor

Poli Sci Concentration + History Minor + Secondary Teaching Certificate

And I found that, with the exception of the two that aren’t possible, nearly any double major can be completed within the reasonable undergrad time frame of 4-5 years. If you want to double major, it’s definitely possible.
