Title says it. I've been admitted to BME (first choice), but i basically selected it because i couldn't find chem eng on the list (silly). But they obviously have the chem eng major. So how easy is it to switch over from one engineering major to another?

You need to clarify. There is no "biomedical" engineering major at UIUC. There is "bioengineering" (which may be what you are referring to) and there is "chemical and biomelecular engineering."

Chemical and biomelecular engineering was on the list of majors for the application. You may not have noticed it because that engineering major is actually in the Arts & Sciences college (a quirk of history). Despite being in LAS, it follows the engineering college's requirements and that college's admission and transfer criteria, i.e., it is effectively part of the engineering college. If you are in bioengineering, it should not be difficult to switch to chemical and biomelecular after the first year. The opposite is more difficult because bioengineering is the most diffciult major to be admitted to, and to switch to once you are in engineering, and its class size is small.
