How easy is it to take classes outside your major?

also, does northeastern provide housing for students who take on internships/co-ops during the summer?
thanks

Northeastern has a core where you are required to take classes in many areas including an advanced class in a subject not your major - assuming there are spaces in the class and you meet the prerequisites there is no problem taking classes outside your major and in different “schools” within NEU.

You can live on-campus during your co-op any time of the year - including summer, of course you have to pay for the housing.

It’s really easy to take classes outside your major. Most classes don’t have major restrictions, and you can often appeal to take the class if there are restrictions. For example, I took a drawing class for art majors my freshman year - all I had to do ws talk to my advisor.

I came in with a lot of AP credit and I’m in communications which is fairly flexible. It’s really easy for me to take classes outside my major. Honestly it depends a lot on your major and credits but overall in comparison to other schools it’s very easy. And yes housing is provided though you have to pay for it of course.

It really depends on your major and your credits coming in. The more AP/IB credits you have, the easier it is to take classes outside your major. Some majors allow more electives than others, so it depends on that as well. It’s pretty easy on the whole. A lot of electives do have prerequisites, though, so as a freshman, your choices are limited.
