How easy is it to transfer to Notre Dame?

I have heard that students who try to transfer to Notre Dame actually have a higher admittance rate than regular high school applicants. Is this true?

-Chris

does it at all depend on openings how many transfers they accept? anyone know?

I don't have stats, but yes it's definitely true that it's easier to transfer in to ND than to be accepted as a freshman.

I have heard the same

I transferred to Notre Dame in the fall of 2003 so hopefully I can help you with any of your transfer questions. Feel free to email me (the link is in my profile, if you can't find it PM me)

Notre Dame accepts approximately 30% of transfer applicants now, so while a tad higher, it is very close to the acceptance rate for freshman. The most important factor OTHER than grades is what classes you take. Notre Dame looks very closely at your classes to see if you have matched the first year of studies, so if you want to transfer to Notre Dame you need to start planning virtually from the get go. It usually isn't the type of school you can just apply to on a whim.

I hope that helped some, please get in touch with me if you have more questions.

i applied on a whim :P

Could you or others please tell me advantages of going to Notre dame?

Where does everyone's love for notre dame come from?

Congrats on getting in! The reason I say that it is hard to do it on a whim is because Notre Dame is so specific with the classes that they want, but congrats for having it work for you! Hopefully you avoided the dreaded summer school requirement!

As for the advantages of Notre Dame, there are many. Notre Dame truly is a family, the people you go to school with are ones who will stand by you for the rest of your life and will help you (and you will help). It is hard to understand but it is true that we are family. Beyond that, Notre Dame seems to be the perfect mix of education and fun for me. Personally, going to a school with very strong academics is very important to me but I also love college sports! One of the best parts to me is going to a school with amazing academics (and it is amazing in that regard) and yet have major college sports. There is nothing like going to a Notre Dame football game every Saturday with all of your friends and being a part of that huge student section and yet still be at one of the best and most respected schools in the nation, it is hard to find that anywhere else. The community is amazing, I truly feel at home at Notre Dame. I love being there! Most people genuinely seem to care about you which is really nice. I know that doesn't sound impressive but it is, you will see.

Alright, I could go on with this all night but what I am trying to say is that Notre Dame is about the experience. You can get a great education at a lot of different schools but you don't get the Notre Dame experience which I do believe is the best undergraduate experience out there. The education is top notch but you always have something going on between sports, activities, faith, there just is so much. It is hard to really say here but if you would like to email me and talk more about it that would be fine. Also, my IM is NDpsych2007 so feel free to IM me and we can discuss if ND meets your needs. I really can't say enough about it though, I am so happy with Notre Dame overall. There are parts I don't like, don't get me wrong, but it is as close to perfect for me as I have found. I hope you come to Notre Dame!

great post!

I will IM you with more questions.

On the other hands, yes they told me i lacked science requirement. I had 0 science courses. The lady told me that i can take one science course over the summer and take another once i get to Notre dame in the fall.

P.S. is it true that they meet 100% of your need?

My EFC was 2050. Does that mean they will cover the rest of 30k in loans and grants? wow

I am not 100% sure because my EFC is enflated beyond belief (I don't know what went wrong) but I think that is correct. I am not sure if it is true for transfers but I think it is. All I know is that a lot of my transfer friends said they would transfer if the money worked and all of them went to ND, so I think they are pretty good at making things work.
