How Effective is the BLUE BOOK

if i take all the Collegeboard online practice tests(or all the ones in the book) and i go over the right and wrong asnwer for each...

How many points do you think it is possible to go up(from around a 1500)?

depends...did you study at all for the 1500? if there was no study involved it all depends on the person.

I know of someone who went from a 1600 to a 2300 with some study using the blue book.

solsek,

can u please give me a detail story of the guy who got from a 1600 (SAT OR PSAT?) to a 2300. I'm a lot like this. Did he use ONLY the blue book? How much time did he spend in prep? what methods of prep did he use? THANKS!

he had a 1570 SAT I...his first test ever.

Him and I studied together for the past December test for just the day before the actual exam. So literally only 8 hours of study, mainly review of the math concepts and some critical reading parts as well.

omg, how does that work? how does one raise their score by 700 points studying one day? did he take the psats and score as low? was the 1570 the oct sat? how could i get from a 170 psat to 2200+ psat? What books did u guys use? WOW. Solsek, what is your story?

My story is less exciting...I got a 1770 first time and a 1950 second time. This time I actually studied for like 3 days so hopefully I can make it to 2100+. My CR score has been terrible each time, I just run out of time after reading all the stories cause they are all so boring. I have some new strategies to try out for this next test. I bought the online course the day before the test, as well as the blue book. So took 2 of the same test individually, then went over the answers together. When I took the PSAT I literally left it half blank because I had to take a poop in the middle of the test, so ya. I am not sure if he took the PSAT or not. We also used the Barrons 2400.

The blue book is awesome. I don't know if it by itself can get everyone's score up...you have to understand what you've done wrong. Keep an error log, and review carefully.

If BB isn't sufficient, get a review guide. I used Cracking the SAT and would definitely recommend it. The tips are good and the tests have answer explanations that help you figure out faster where you're going wrong. It's a good companion to BB.
