How effed am I..?

Hey guys, new member here. So I’m pretty sure you guys get posts like these all the time but…

I noticed that my application to all the colleges I applied to contained some minor spelling typos regarding missing letters. I found about 3 typos and sent out correction emails to some of the colleges. But the thing is, NONE of my typos were in my essays or any supplements. I found them in the randomest sections such as current year courses, parent employer, and EC’s (last one not so random). But I wanted to ask you guys. Did i screw up my future…? Really scared… I feel like I blew everything up. I’m actually such a detailed person, and I never thought this would happen. I’m afraid that I’ll receive no admissions letters whatsoever in March. Sigh…

I applied to some awesome colleges (including 2 ivies) and I say my stats are pretty good (not to brag). I know I’ve been working hard in high school but now it just feels like everything is crumbling down.

After Jan 1 there were a lot of threads like yours. The consensus was that minor typos will not be a problem. A problem = putting the wrong school’s name in the essay. Don’t worry about this at all.

I don’t think its that big of a deal. Admission officers should be able to decipher your actual words if your mistakes are as minor as you say they are. And e-mailing them was the right thing to do so don’t worry about it too much.

And you also said: " I’m afraid that I’ll receive no admissions letters whatsoever in March"
You do have safeties, right? It would be dangerous to only apply to the top ranked colleges without considering other options.

You are probably going to have choices in the spring assuming you applied to some matches and safeties, not just reaches. It may hurt you on the reaches – proofreading is a good thing, as you may now realize. Keep this experience in mind in the future when you are working on resumes and cover letters.

Thanks for that @green678 and yes, I’ve applied to a lot of match schools and have been accepted to a state safety school. Hope this doesn’t harm my app too much… @ccclassof2019 @intparent

I think you’re ok. I’ve made similar mistakes as well.
