how exactly admission to graduate school work?

so i know how to get into college, but after 4 years, do you have to apply again to get into graduate school?

for instance, if i go to mit, does that mean i have to apply again after 4 years to get in to their graduate school, or is the first acceptance enough?

please explain, thanks ;)

Yes. You have to apply again. Visit the websites of the places that interest you, and read the section on grad admissions.

There is a grad school forum here. Pinned to the top is ‘grad school 101’ thread. Admissions to grad school is entirely separate process. You have to go through a competitive admissions and you usually apply to several possibilities. For PhD, usually you will go to a different university to get exposed to different faculty, but there are exceptions. Grad school admissions also works differently than undergrad. You don’t have to spend too much time on details now. You will get more informed in college.
