Ok, so this may seem like a stupid question, but how do colleges know your GPA?
Do they take the one as reported by your school, or do they recalculate the GPA with your transcript according to their own standards?

The reason I ask is because my school does the GPA calculation very unfairly. They generalize the score far too much, and what results is a somewhat modified average that doesn't exactly reflect your performance.
For example, an 89 is worth 3.3 points while a 90 is worth 3.7 points! How is that fair? It's too high of a jump. One point should not make such a huge differential, regardless of whether it's from a B to an A.

Also, I was wondering whether or not colleges take into consideration PE and electives when calculating your GPA. I know my school does, but I don't think they weight it as heavily.

Is it different for every school or is there a standard system in place for these things? How can I go about finding the answer to such questions?
So confusing...
