How exactly do I apply to colleges?

<p>I'm curious because USC sent me an email:</p>

<p>The University of Southern California has begun accepting freshman applications for fall 2008. Our Part I application is available online now.</p>

<p>And I was about to start filling it out when I realized, "isn't this what common app's for?". So, should I go to the common app website and start filling that out?</p>

<p>If you want to start now, you'll have to work from the USC site.</p>

<p>well some schools use the common app, but others don't. You are going to have to check that USC's individual website and see if they do or not.</p>
