How exactly does SHIP work?

The student health insurance policy thing. I don't really understand how health insurance works so can anyone explain to me what the deductible is and what exactly does it cover? Say I need to get my wisdom tooth removed/or flu shots, what exactly happens? Thanks in advance.

i, too, would like to know. especially if i want to use SHIP when i go home. how does that process work?

[UCSB Student Health Insurance](http://studenthealth.sa.ucsb.edu/Insurance.aspx)

A deductible is the “amount of money, or value of certain services (such as one physician visit), a patient or family must pay before costs (or percentages of costs) are covered by the health plan or insurance company, usually per year.”

idk if SHIP covers dental, doubt it.

You can see the brochure here[/url”>http://www.renstudent.com/Students/Schools.aspx?SchoolID=229]here. Just click on the “UC Santa Barbara - USHIP” link. Furthermore, I can confirm that the insurance doesn’t cover dental.
