How is your order on the Telebears system determined? Is it based on credits completed only at Berkeley or do they take into account credits brought with you (ie. AP credits)?
Thanks.

Oh my gosh… So confusing… What power do the AP units have???

Ahhh, I finally get it! Haha Thanks so much. My other two attend liberal arts colleges so this Berkeley thing is all new to me. I appreciate you taking the time to help out a clueless mom. :-)

hmm…so does that mean transfers who have a non-AP level of freshmen get appointments based off of that? or would that be a case when education level is used…

In the first explanation it mentions taking into account units from community colleges, units from other UCs, and units from UC Extensions. I think you would be ahead of the freshmen based on that explanation. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one confused. haha

education level are all accepted units - those that transfer in from CC are included, plus the AP units. Non-AP subtracts out AP from that, in other words it is all the units you have already earned. Future level anticipates the units of the current semester.

For example, someone entering with zero CC or AP units might end their second semester with an education level of 15 units, a non-ap level of 15, and a future telebears status of sophomore (anticipating the student passes the second semester classes). That gets a telebears appointment for the third semester registration as a sophomore, but behind all those with more units of credit (but not yet going to be 60 or more with the current semester units, otherwise they would be future junior or future senior).

Another example - someone enters with 15 units of AP credit and 10 units earned at CC. At the end of their second semester (assuming they take 15 units each time), they have 40 units of education and 30 units of non-AP and 55 units as a future telebears. Based on these they are at a sophomore level. However, at the end of their first semester, they have education of 25, non-ap of 15 and future level of 40, giving them a sophomore telebears appointment for their second semester registration, while in the first example I gave, the student has a freshman appointment time for second semester.

Yes, it is confusing.

So my sons 50+ AP units help him with regards to his Telebears appointment time??? I am so lost… I’ve read your response over and over and I’m still lost! I guess my son didn’t get his brains from me. haha

@momfirst3: having 50+ AP units will help him with regards to his Telebears appointment time indeed. I had over 70 units before coming to Berkeley and I was ahead at least 2 weeks of my peers when it came to Telebears appointment. However, the office of registrar won’t be able to process his units in time for this semester. If he’s really unlucky like me, the office still won’t process his units for the next spring semester.

UpMagic - He took 8 AP classes by his junior year. Would they have that information? He took 5 more his senior year… How will he know when they have them? Does it show up somewhere? Thanks for helping me out with this.

his scores will eventually first appear on his myberkeleyapp page. The thing is, they take forever to process his scores. The units won’t appear on Bearfacts until late Fall at the earliest.

@anon5524485: they were both CC and AP.
@momfirst3: as long as your kid put down Berkeley to send his AP scores, his senior year and his past years’ scores will be sent to Cal. As anon5524485 said, it will initially appear on myberkeleyapp page but it will take a while to be applied on his telebears level.

LH - I am saying that non-AP includes CC, once they are recorded by Cal and therefore listed for your unit count towards graduation. Everything but AP units.

I said “education level are all accepted units - those that transfer in from CC are included, plus the AP units. Non-AP subtracts out AP from that, in other words it is all the units you have already earned.” - meaning take the education level count of units and remove only the AP units. We are saying the same thing.
