How far are you in the college application process?

I'm still curretnley polishing up the common app essay, and starting to write short 300 word essays to some colleges. HBU guys

I have my CommonApp essay done but I still want to look it over and edit it. I’ve got my other essays written but not typed or edited and my teacher rec’s are in progress at the moment. I still need to send out for official score reports and all but I believe that I’m mostly done except for fine tuning the essays.

I’ve got the common app essay done, my teacher reccs lined up, my second essay “How has your past shaped you?”, Several short answer essays done, the common app 180 words activity essay, the 3rd supplement Essay for UChi done, and several more to go, as I am doing all the supplemental essays. I’ve sent some of my scores, but not all to the colleges I’m going to be applying to.

I figure I have about ten or so more essays to write, plus a non-custodial waiver to take care of, but It shouldn’t be too hard, I don’t think.

I’m just finishing my list of colleges and a couple supplemental essays first drafts.

I’ve finished all my essays and all of my apps except for UIllinois because it’s not out yet. I’ve sent my recommendations to the school that needs them because of a summer program that required them. Test scores are sent. With the exception of sending transcripts/school profiles, I’m pretty much done with everything. I’m more concerned about scholarships now.

I can’t get too far in any applications since I’m retaking the SAT in October. Only universities I could probably get far into the application are: University of Iowa, Wake Forest University ( does not require test scores) and Bowdoin.

@ Coolbreze: Why can’t you write essays for other schools?

Haha you guys are really stressing. I don’t even have my actual essay done yet XD

I’m not stressing, I have the QuestBridge deadline to meet Sept. 30th. And I’d like to apply EA to another school, so… I’m getting it all done now so I can relax later.

Uh.

I don’t have much done at all. I have only just barely started my essays… I’m completely lost on them. I can’t do anything for teacher recs or counselor recs or transcripts until the week after schools starts. I have an EA school and a rolling app due October 9th (long story), but my school will just give me crap for wanting this stuff done the second week of school.

I haven’t even though about how I’m going to handle non-custodial parent waiver forms or the CSS/PROFILE or even application fee waivers. Actually I’m not getting anything done at all because I’m uncharacteristically overwhelmed. Breaking it down doesn’t help because I’m a “the bigger picture” kind of person.

So basically… wish me luck.

Applicannot- I tend to be a big picture person too, but you HAVE to break it down some. Write up a basic resume for your rec’ers just in case they ask so you have them ready to go. Then write one essay. You can break it down if you try. :3

i’ve gotten my common app essay, the short answer about an activity, and the activities section w/ an addendum done. That leaves me with my supplements, which amount to like seven 500 word essays and like five 250 word mini-essays.

Two questions:

Can we send test scores whenever we want? I was under the impression you had to have submitted a supplement or the application before sending scores.

When will the CSS profile for us availible?

pssh all you guys have done is write a few essays and tests? pssh. I’ve already finished 3 years of highschool      :D

@Yurtle: I am also doing QB and have all of the application stuff done except for the 800 word essay.

Cool Ju_liaa! I just finished my last required QB essay today. I’ll probably have to complete the optional extra info essay to explain my relationship with my non-custodial parent even further, however. :[

Best of luck to you.

I have rough drafts of my potential Common App essays, and everything filled out except that and the supplements.

Ahhh thanks for stressing me out…
I guess I’m out of touch with when is a reasonable time to start apps.
I just looked at the supplemental forms for each of the schools I’m applying to, and I’ve barely even thought out my commonapp essay…
Am I gonna get screwed?

To post 7

I haven’t started any of my essays yet. I guess because I’am a little stress with the whole process etc… right now, I definately don’t want to try writing the essays while I’m stress out, but I’ll probably start soon anyway.

I haven’t started anything yet lol. Appears none of my friends have either.

Not many people start this early, but those who want less stress later should. If you plan on early decision, start now if you have not. It’s never too late.
