Google Maps says:
9.7 mi – about 17 mins

I have to walk 20 minutes to the bus stop....
and then the bus takes about another 20 minutes,
since it has to pick up students in other stops.

16.2 miles, between 25 - 40 minutes, depending on how early I get out of the house.

Walking takes about 45 mins wither if I'm going to school or coming back from school, but on bus or car it takes about 5-10 mins.

It should never take 45 minutes to walk 2 miles.

arnoc-if you're in a large city, it can definitely take 45 minutes.

I don't really understand this. I would say that one should be able to walk two miles in less than half an hour, regardless of the setting. Pedestrians don't waste that much time at intersections.

I live across the street from my school. I'm on school property if I go out my driveway and cross the road. But then I have to walk through the grass to get to the door (no sidewalks). So it's about a 3 minute walk. I have driven before when I didn't feel like walking. For instance, I drove when I had to take a card table to school and there were six inches of snow on the ground. I don't care about Al Gore, but I'm not walking through the snow with a heavy table.

13 miles... i live in a big city so i take the subway to school.

it takes me 30 mins to walk to the subway station (15 blocks away) and 1 hour by subway and walking from the subway to school about 5 mins.

That would be so cool to take the subway to school. But it wouldn't be cool to have an hour and a half commute to school. Though, if you could get a seat, that would be a great opportunity to catch up on reading.

Mine is around 2 miles away, so within walking distance.

One of my friends for some reason has to walk to school and he's at least 4 miles away. Sometimes I drive by his house and pick him up, but I'm not supposed to, but I can hardly stand that his parents make him walk, it's stupid. He's like.. not allowed to have a bike, and he's 17 and his parents "wouldn't let" him get a learner's permit or a license or anything, and won't till he's 18. ***?!

Most of the people I know that live within two miles of the school drive to school. The school has actually offered bus service to me, and I live literally across the street. But rural schools are a little different, since there are no sidewalks/crosswalks/stoplights, and when the traffic is busy in the morning, walking to school can be a challenge if you're coming from two miles out of town.

What's nice about driving in the country, though, is that two miles takes five minutes at the most. Thus, it saves tons of time to drive.

At my mom's it's like 5min, so I walk home.

2.75 miles.

three or four (suburban) blocks, so its like a two minute walk

A hay field seperates my house and the school.. I can tell you the football game scores without attending the game. I probably live a fourth a mile because of how my house division is set up and the field.

Mine was 1 mile, now college is 2500.

a little less than a mile, but it's mostly uphill with no sidewalks, so I take the bus

Around two miles. It takes about ten minutes unless traffic is bad.

I live 20 miles.. It sorta sucks... Especially when there are sporting events.

7 train from Main Street to Grand Central, 42nd Street. Transfer to the 4/5 Uptown to 86th Street.

I would say it's a 45 minute commute from home to school.

2.82 miles and it takes me 10 minutes to get there.

about 20 - 30 min by bus and about 40 min to walk.
I usually take the bus.

10 miles in 20 minutes.
