How far does need go in affecting admission for intls

Well if your debating between applying early to either Harvard or Stanford, then it doesn't make much of a difference. As a previous poster stated, Harvard is need-blind to internationals whilst Stanford is not so that will give you an advantage in the admissions process but that does not give you any reason to apply early to one over the other.

As an international who applied early to Harvard and from what I was told by my interviewer, Harvard is very reluctant to accept internationals in the early round, particularly if they are from a country with very few applicants. In this respect, it might be beneficial to apply early to Stanford. But, there are many who will tell you that you should always apply early to your first choice college since early admissions always give applicants an advantage.

yesh: umm i doubt its that accurate coz well I've met 2/3 ppl on CC that have gotten financial aid from stanford, and one guy in my school got a full ride, and since there's the whole rest of the 20000 applicants out there, I doubt that only 11 more ppl got fin aid.

thanks a lot inuendo!

did you get into harvard early?

No, I got defered.

Hehe, like your logic dreamer9 :)

If I am correct, applying for fin. aid will probably diminish your chances a bit but if they accept you they will give you a full ride I suppose...
So where are you going Inuendo?

Hey JRock
Harvard hasn't admitted anyone from Nigeria for over 10 or 15 years now. I do not think they desire to change that policy. So if you really want to have a decent shot at Harvard make sure you get an interview with an alumni or speak to one of the adcoms.
Stanford would give you any amount of money as long as they really want you.
good luck with the application process.

thanks kaysouljah.
I hope Stanford wants me cos I'm seriously considering early action for stanford.

Stanford.......
