ahahahaha flying commas

finished deerfield!!!

hahahaha congrats! working to make mine more interesting now :D

@woowoo20 did you format yours like a letter? thats what I did and im really nervous about it.

no not really it was just like i think my advisor should know… my advisor should also know.

I’m not sure if I’m really done cus I wrote like 2 things but how much can we write? the box scrolls down for like forever

or is it just till it starts scrolling

i think for deerfield you don’t really have a limit. just whatever you feel is appropriate? mine is five-six-ish paragraphs. i haven’t edited yet. xD

how much words is that? cus I did 1 big paragraph 327 words and I definitely need more

You’re going to want around 500-600 words for most essays depending on a limit (if any). Also, many essays (such as Andover’s) say the have a word limit, but they also have a character limit of usually 2000. Just keep that in mind and make sure you know both limits at the Gateway to Prep Schools app wont let you put in all the words if it’s over the character count.

eek mine is 785 words… i think for deerfield’s it should be okay though, since there is no limit. hopefully.

i suck at writing long essays only like under 400 words then i start blabbering about everything

i’m opposite. i just write, then i find it’s about double the word limit, and i have to go back and cut out all my hard work. D:

^ same! but i always try to remember the ‘economy of words’ - don’t use 10 words to say something you can say in one. and try not to be overly flowery :D

@TheatreGeek1: love Uglies! I’ve read the whole series, including the companion. It’s SOO INTERESTING. I wrote my L’ville one about which reading did you enjoy the most on something pretty off the beaten path… but it’s my best essay, so…

I’m so proud of how many replies and hits this has gotten! Keep up the good essay writing work, fellow CCers! Good luck to you all.

@98beebee That’s soo cool! By the companion do you mean Bogus to Bubbly? I read it too it’s soo good! It’s cool to meet someone else who’s enjoyed it :)

Yup, bogus to bubbly was really interesting. I like how everything was explained: the science behind beauty, etc. The author also has a really awesome blog. I can’t think of any other books like that.

^^Are you applying to L’ville?

No, I’m only applying to 4 right now, but L’ville was in my top 6 but I had to cut down two :/

Ugh TheatreGeek, I had to cut Lawrenceville from my list as well! And Middlesex because when I was starting to apply, they didn’t have off campus interviews. D:

Are any of you applying to Choate? I tried pasting one of my short answers in to check the character count, and it wouldn’t paste, and I don’t want to type the entire thing in…is anyone having a similar problem?
And Ehphant, keep yours as a letter. It adds a touch of creativeness, and it’s still acceptable. I’m not applying to Deerfield, but I was planning to, and I never thought of writing that part as an letter.

I’m applying to Choate! And that’s a really odd problem, but make sure your character count is less than or equal to their character count. If not, just refresh your GoChoate page. Also make sure that it is copied before you paste it because maybe you accidentally didn’t copy it. Hope I helped!
