How far is this from legacy?

Hey College Confidential!

I am a junior who is taking an early look at my college choices. I stumbled upon Emory University, and I am definitely interested in it! One of my reasons for looking into the school is that my father completed his neurology residency at the Emory University Hospital, while my mom worked as a labor and delivery nurse there. When I mentioned my college search, both my parents jumped to suggest Emory, recalling its beautiful campus and collegiate atmosphere. My mom joked about the Hospital cafeteria's grits.

So my question!

Does my parents' residency and employment at Emory have any bearing on my application? I have noticed that some schools are more generous with their connections then others. At least it's a cute personal experience?

(It may be worth noting that Emory was the ONLY private education either of my parents received, as they both attended UMD undergrad and medical/nursing school)

I think it would be an excellent connection! Emory values deep interest in school and having parents that had such extensive connections at Emory is definitely a plus.

However dont skimp out on the SATs, take the most rigorous classes at your school, participate in a wide variety of extracurriculars, focus on your common app essay and the supplement essay and you have a good chance!

Oh and make sure you say that your parents did what you say or it will not help at all! make sure you visit and order dvd video as that will help a lot.

if your parents work at emory, you are going to have a much higher chance than people who dont. people with parents working at emory is almost guaranteed a spot at Oxford campus as long as they met the score standards. Plus, if they work there, you get tuition benefits too.
