How far will this stuff really take me?

I’m just wondering how much credit i really get for being
Cuban,
First Generation College,
and in need (Fafsa “EFC” of 0.)

here are some stats:
In state
I applied with a CSU gpa of somewhere between 3.48 and 3.6
I applied to Business Admin
and an SAT of 1200/1600 (math and CR)
i have lots of various EC.
a decent amount of major related hours work per week
150 hours of community service,
graduating with 350 units
and that’s it?

i would just like to get a “chance”, and some honest feedback on how I am going to do, i have not heard anything yet, still says “no determination”

and i would like to know how important those first 3 things are in the selection process

let me know if there is anything more info i can supply

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Cal Poly’s a california state school so it doesn’t practice affirmative action plus admissions is mostly a numbers game at CSUs… you’re not going to get much help from those three.

I think you probably have a 35% chance of getting accepted. Your GPA is kinda low, and there was record high number of applicants this year . I don’t think you get priority for being a minority. CSUs can’t discriminate by race. I’m also waiting for Business Administration with a 3.95 GPA and 28 ACT. Good Luck!

Alright! thanks i really appreciate all the honesty! so i’m still going to hold on and keep checking but now i have a better idea, at first I was pretty in the dark,

and also out of UCSB, UCSC and Sonoma State, which would be best? in terms of highest percent chance of acceptance, (probably sonoma) but i mean just in general, like what are my chances for those schools and out of them which would you suggest to look into more?

Where did you find that figure that said “record high number of applicants?”

here’s the link, dubbledub [Record number apply to Cal Poly | The Tribune & SanLuisObispo.com](http://www.sanluisobispo.com/2012/01/20/1915930/record-number-apply-to-cal-poly.html)

45,000 that is an amazing number of applicants. If taken proportionally to campus size and enrollment, I think that Cal Poly now ranks as one of the most popular schools anywhere in the US. Incredible…

It’s not hard to believe that so many students are interested in Cal Poly - with it’s top academic reputation (especially for engineering), beautiful campus and surrounding area, and very reasonable cost (especially for out-of-state students!) It is the only out-of-state school that we considered for our daughters - and it is looking like we’ll have 2 Mustangs soon!

Not 45,000, but 36,929 is nothing short of amazing.

@slolearner i think 45,000 applications includes transfers.

36,929 freshman plus 7486 transfers

44,415 total, that’s ALOT

its 44k. The 36k is freshmen only. There is another lot for transfer.

I stand corrected. 44K is really impressive.
