How fast does private housing fill up?

As a probable incoming freshman, Id like to know how late singles in private housing are available.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

it fills fast, and they start taking reservations on january 7, obviously for early applicants. since the deadline for accepting admission is may 1 for everyone, and regular applicants are notified by april 15, the housing wont be available after may and will fill quickly especially after the regular admission acceptance period

does anyone know if on-campus residency is required for people living in Champaign who will continue to live with parents?

A single in private housing would be nearly impossible. I know that even returning sophomores have difficulty getting singles given that they're usually taken by upperclassmen. As an incoming freshman, you'd probably end up in a suite, but I guess it depends on which private housing you're referring to. IT? Bromley? Hendricks House?

Regular Applicants are notified on February 15th, not April 15th as stated above.

The rule that freshman must stay in dorms or private certified housing is inapplicable to area residents staying at home.

As to singles, those are difficult for freshman to get in the private housing even if applying early. However, you should consider potentially applying for a single in private housing, if that is what you want, and waitlist if you cannot get it and then also apply for an alternative elsewhere such as a UIUC dorm. The reason: about July to early August there are usually a number of cancellations that occur at the privates and they then make offers in the order you are on the waitlist so that gives you some chance of landing a single. Note also you will not be stuck with both housing contracts if that happens as agreement between UIUC and private certifieds is that each will cancel a housing contract for any student who switches to the other before classes begin.

Is it possible to apply for single housing in multiple places with the same cancellation agreement?

As for which houses, presumably Armory, Bromley, Hendrick, or Presby, as that one also appears to have some individual bedrooms. See if I can get into one of the four.

A single is a lot to ask for, true, but Ill see what I can get. How likely am I to get some sort of apartment assignment in private housing (preferably double otherwise)?

about being from champaign, yes it is required to live in a dorm of some type for ur freshmen year but there is always a loophole somewhere, look at Jefferey Jordan....
if you talk to the housing department directly i'm sure they can work something out. talk about financial reasons, etc. however i would recommend living in a dorm so you can start making friends.

Hendrick House had alot of singles last semester. Was pretty surprised.
