For a normal 30 min section, I normally finish at around 23-25. I normally just do the problem, move on, check as many as I can when I finish everything. How is the pace?

However, I am always stuck in the 720-760 zone because of careless mistakes. Would you guys suggest that I check it right after finishing a problem?

no, you're still thinking in the same mode/vein so you'd be more careless... it would be helpful to just do the problem, somewhat forget about it, then go over the problem and look over your work.

well, look through every test you've done. Where are you making your mistakes?
first third? 2nd third? last third?

I found out that all my mistakes were within the last few questions, so I changed my pace, now speeding through everything to leave me about 10 min to go, then checked the last third. only then did i check questions before that. 790+ since then, so if you're like me, try that.

During my practice tests i was also stuck in the 720-760 range--you cant check all 25 but if youre consistently scoring above 700 like me then theres no need to check the first 15 questions. The last 10 (medium and hard questions) are the ones you make careless mistakes on. So check over those, especially the last 5. I also find that i put a lot of effort in hte last 2, but questions 20-23, i usually got 1 wrong...i ended up getting a 740 first try then used this method to get a 780...good luck~

I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but I used to finish sections in 20 min, and after a little practice got it to 16-18 min per section. This gave me almost half the time to go back and redo every single problem. They don't take as long the second time around since you've already done them once and all you need to check is that all the math is ok and your reasoning is sound.

This is the wrong thinking. It's better to check WHILE you are doing the problem, rather than come back to it! One of the last things you should do before you put down an answer on a math question is re-read the question -- that is, re-read the last sentence that ends in the question mark to ensure that you are answering the right question and giving the right quantity. You may even want to re-read the entire question so that you do not miss anything obvious (or subtle) in the question wording. The principle is to slow down, especially in the medium questions, NOT speed up! I would berate my students if they ever tried finishing the math sections in 17 minutes. Now, if you still end up with a few minutes left after doing ALL of this, then consider circling a few questions during the section that you are not 100% sure of, and go back to those!

yeah...thats usually what I do. I do all the problems and I check them as I go along. I would finish a 30 min. section in probably about 22-23 min. doing this. Then I have about 7-8 min. to go back to questions I thought were hard, and I need to think about them some more. Def. don't try to speed up in order to go back and be able to check them all again...otherwise, there are more mistakes the first time around to fix the second time around, and you spend time reading all the questions again.
