Cornell is my top school, but my only concern is that I want a double major or dual degree. Would it be practical to double major in CS and operations research? Would I be able to get a dual degree in engineering and economics?
I would appreciate any info, thanks
I know a person who double majors in operations research and applied economics, so it can be done.
It’d definitely be hard. Engineering has a pretty rigid structure with a lot of requirements and not much wiggle room. Classes are going to be tough too. But I’m sure if you can handle the difficulty and workload of both majors that it’s possible!
Can someone suggest some good double majors with engineering? S
While Eng has a lot of requirements, there are so many electives that you can take almost any classes you are interested in and model them to fit your career goals. IMO double majors are a little too much and most engineers take at most only a minor. I’m personally majoring in ECE with a minor in CS which is pretty common because a lot of courses overlap and double majoring would be really superficial.
CS is very compatible with ORIE and ECE, so I think that a double major would be doable if not easy.
I don’t think a CS and ORIE double major would be “easy” by any means lol
Why do you want a double major just to have one, and have other people suggest it is ridic. Why don’t you just take upper div extra coursework in an area that interests you? It seems there is very low value in a double major and if it distracts from your grades and doing projects and research in one major it is a poor tradeoff.
Consider the grade deflation factor in engineering. Double majoring would be ridiculously difficult. A gpa below a 3 would exclude you from obtaining an internship. Beware…
