I was just accepted as a transfer student to Smith with very generous financial aid, that, in addition to phenomenal academics and unique programs really puts Smith at the top of my list for next year. My one question however is, as a whole, Smith a friendly nurturing environment and a nice, fun place to be? I'm sorry if this is super vague, its just been nagging at me for awhile. While I definitely don't mind hard work and competitiveness, I had a tough experience this year with my current college's unforgiving environment causing me undue stress and negatively affecting my work. I am not asking for an easier work load, I enjoy challenging academics, I would just prefer to be a more friendly caring environment.
Thank you so much!

alex - see the thread on the Smith forum called finding an emotional fit - I asked a similar question on behalf of my daughter and received some helpful comments

I can only answer as a parent but I would say Smith is very friendly and nurturing based on everything my daughter has told me and the students I’ve met along the way. They all seem to help each other and try to make new people feel welcome.
