How frustrating is this?

^ See what a Cornell education will do for ya?

Haha..I kid I kid.

By telling other kids negative things about cornell, aren't you giving the school you want to go to a bad reputation? I'm sure Cornell wouldn't appreciate that. Do you really want kids to think that your number one school is a horrible place? Now, when you tell those kids in December that you got in, won't they be like, "Oooh, I heard Cornell is stingy about financial aid" or "Don't a lot of people there get raped?" I know that I take pride in the university I will be attending and I would hate to give it a bad reputation just for my own personal gain.

Rape is a heinous crime, and I do not want to make light of a very serious topic - however, IMHO the OP is a "flamer", citing a controversial article and inaccurate statistic.

You've told - what? - maybe 12 to 20 people these horrible myths?

You've got 27,000 or however many other applicants to go. Statistically, I don't think you're improving your odds at all.

You. Are. Scum.

I hope you get into Cornell and that rapist makes you spread your butt cheeks

Here's my take on this thread... either the OP is a Cornell hating troll, or - as Applejack started to infer - the OP is trying to reach the 27,000+ prospective applicants. Either way, I don't think we should post any more comments here.

Lower. 10 characters

Well, to add insult to injury, the OP can feel better because I'm also applying ED. :p

whats OP?
and people who doesnt care about cornell will do regular, so it doesnt affect you. even if you succedd in convincing 20 people not to apply, it doesnt make any difference in your decision.

OP= Original Poster :)

"Another thing I tell my peers, mostly females, is that Cornell has a statistic of 1 in 4 girls being raped or having attempted rape"

I haven't seen any stats and I'm sure this is false.

And you really think that you're going to scare your male friends telling them that there are rapist-girls at Cornell?? haha

"Oh yeah, I'm applying there too, just to see if I get in."

REMEMBER--- IF you're not up to par with the applicant pool (meaning someoen with the stats, EC's, etc) then there is no way you'll get in. More ppl doesn't mean you have lower chances unless they are competitive.

The ppl that are "just applying", chances are their supplemental essay's are done on the spot and will be awful.

These 2 twins had a fee waived and they applied 12-14 schools each. They BS's nearly all the supplmental essay's. They didn't get in obviously.

Don't sweat it, unless those kids are stronger then you academically.

... this is really random. i think you should spend your energies and time on writing good college essays rather than persuading people not to apply to cornell.

kinda makes you sound sexist if you are trying to keep the girls from not applying...

but overall, cornell's campus is safe. and this is coming from a GIRL who has walked home at 2/3/4/5+ am...

^^ haha, well said.

Wow, not very confident in yourself are you? Maturity is a value when applying to colleges. Just something to keep in mind.
