:((((( well I had to fill one out and the questions they asked were so vague… and… weird lol I guess no one could help me out on this oneee boo…

In your opinion, how good do you have to be to qualify for the OOS tuition waiver? Did your son receive it for only one semester? If I can’t get that waiver then I simply can’t go to that school, even if it is like my dream school.

@thaisteak
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. But I guess you could contact them. Why did they ask for the Parent’s Assets Form? I’ guessing it’s a special case for FAFSA?

@borkborkbork haha thanks. I guess it’s becuase I didn’t put my parents assets when I was filling out my fafsa… boo…

also sucks because they already awarded me aid… 9K in grants now I think theyre going to take it back… sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

^ What kind of grants were they? I’m going to have an epic low EFC starting next year, and I was under the impression that the Pell was like $5000 and that was really the only grant given?

(My freshman year I had a 33k EFC, sophomore year it’s 20k (some subsidized loans), next year I’m anticipating around 5k, and my senior year it’ll drop to almost zero probably. It’s interesting to see my family’s demise reflected in my EFC, but that’s a story for another time.)

please do continue…

thaisteak, have you contacted the fin aid office about this yet?

WTK, I had 6k EFC this semester and all i got was 4k in subsidized loans. Also got parent plus loan, but they charge interest and would rather just pay monthly installment payments on the rest.

DenuMz… yeah I did… lol… they made me fill so much **** out again… like I had to send them my parent’s tax forms and then they sent me this asset sheet that I had to fill out and they are still putting my financial aid on HOLD… bleh this really sucks becasue I really needed that 9K that they were offering me… but I don’t know if they will take that moeny back or not… thoughts? can they even do that?

@Thaisteak, if you are a dependent (as listed on your parents’ tax forms) and your family is expected to make a contribution to your education, they can and probably will take back some of those grants you have.

It sucks, but what it sounds like to me was that you may have cheated the system by not being completely honest about your accessibility to funds to pay for college. Join the rest of us in taking out loans and being owned by the government for the rest of your natural life. ;______;

borkborkbork, I will send you a PM.

^Thanks, I appreciate it.

anyone know if transfer students can also get OOS state tuition waivers? is it more competitive than undergrad?
