How good are Georgetown's Summer Courses?

I'm a European applicant and this Summer/Late Spring I'm thinking of doing an internship in an international organization in DC or NY. I'm also planning on attending a Summer Course, probably on International Affairs.

Georgetown is, probably, one of the places I might be heading to next fall, so I'm already informed on how G'town works and all that. What I want to know is: What is the best Summer Course in terms of:

-Credentials/Recognition
-Teaching quality
-Working environment

bump bump bump

Are you talking about programs for students still in high school or Georgetown’s summer school?

I took International Relations at the Summer College as a high school student in 2011, and I would highly recommend taking it. Georgetown is well-known for its foreign policy school, so taking IR seems like an obvious decision, regardless of your major. Our lecturer was a graduate student, not a professor, but he was brilliant, and I definitely did not feel like I was being robbed of any information by being taught by a grad student. At least half my class consisted of high school students as Georgetown’s summer program is extremely popular, but the other half was made up of college students from around the country and exchange students from Shanghai, China. Needless to say, we were a diverse bunch. Everyone got along well, and interaction among peers was encouraged through group presentations and debates that were both challenging and enjoyable. I hope that helps!

The summer courses offered at Georgetown are wonderful. You will meet great people and get challenging instruction. (Summer in D.C. can get pretty humid - be forewarned.)

Who was your lecturer/professor? Because I’m debating which class to take, Elements of Political Theory or International Relations?

Are you talking about the Summer IR Institute or summer classes for college credit?
