How good do you have to be in Cross-Country, if you want to get recruited to UPENN? I have to know this ASAP. Thanks in advance.

You need to be very good. I know one kid from my school was recruited for the class of 2010. I don't know how good he was, but I think he was one of the best in the state (Maryland) during high school.

They really don't recruit just for cross country. You will be running outdoor track as well and probably indoor track. The important recruiting times are your track times. Cross country times vary by course. Unless you have times from known courses (VC Park in NYC, Footlocker courses etc) your track times are what the coaches will consider. I would contact Coach Powell and show your interest and tell him your times. If you are a recruit, you will receive a specially marked application. You will be asked in advance of that for your transcript and SAT scores. You will also be asked what school you are applying to at Penn. Each coach has a very limited number of Wharton slots for the very top recruits.

I love VC Park... but idk why... i couldn't stand XC.

but on to more important info, yea, you'd more than likely wind up running outdoor. as far as how good, you'd have to be pretty good. but you can put your times on the regular application even if you don't get recruited and call the coach and speak to him about it. then he can pull the proper strings from there.

Thanks, guys!!! You guys help me a bunch! But do you guys know the time of people who got recruited to UPenn in VC Park?

seoul- it's easy for you to figure it out. Take a look at the freshmen from last year. Search online for their best times and you will have your answer. I'm telling you- it's track times that matter. You want to be under 4:30 for 1600 to have much of a shot. Cross country 5K time of 16 or better.

Damn, I meant the kid was recruited for track. I really didn't know him that well at all, so I don't know his times or his grades/SATs.
