how good do you have to keep up with your grades?

hey y"ALL! we're finally waiting for those acceptances!
haha does any posters lk know me? i post from time to time but feel lk im part of an obscurity of CC..

anyways that was off topic, to the question:

How good do you have to keep up with your grades? All grades needed is now in, and all we are waiting for is our acceptances. however, how focused do you have to be? sure, grades are veery important nd we should keep them up, but then I don't feel the need to concetrate as much as i did on semester 1. lk would they frown and maybe even consider retracting your admission upon from an A+ to an A? or am i just being wayyy too paranoid?
(k, retracting was a bit harsh, but stillmaybe decrease your chance of admisssion significantly?)

No, probably not significantly, but if you went from an A to a C- (they check grades if you are accepted) then that would be a cause for concern. But if you went from an A+ to a B+ I dont think they would care, but I don't know.

wow that is paranoid. as long at it's a B, im thinking your good. plus when you arrive at boarding school, unless ur a loner and spend all your time doing work, your going to have to welcome the B's cause that's usually what you are going to get the first semester or year.

Rephrasing your words, Senay, do you believe only the "lifeless loners" are the ones who receive good grades?

well, with the workload boarding school will set you up with, ur social life will go down the drain unless you take time off then your grades will go down the drain. that's what the freshman at exeter told me, only geniuses or the loners get straight A's freshman year. it'll be hard to focus on your homework when your friends are around u while it's hw time

who was this person from exeter again? >.>

that's stupid. if you try hard in school, you are not by all means considered a loner, nerd, etc. maybe a genius, but that's a compliment i guess.

I agree! Most people attending Exeter probably do work hard to begin with.

Although, studying with your friends every night does seem like a big distraction.

with the workload, say bye bye to fun and socializing time. it's true what they say: boarding school is where fun goes to die. when freshmen come, they dont know how to balance their workload time and their friend time. they usually pick their friends who are around all the time, they slack off, then their grades go down. that's why the B's on the report cards are normal and usual

i wouldn't think so. i've read that most students begin to get better and better with their grades as 2nd and 3rd terms come. think of 1st term as a transition time. at bs is where fun goes to uh, expand. and i hate to say it, but if a friend were coming between me and my school work at bs, i'd try to avoid them.

well, i guess you havent found a friend that you want to spend all your time with so im thinking you're not that close with your current friends.

i actually got my friend to apply to anne wright so if we both get in, we are so going there

Senay I think your being just a little harsh, I am sure there are lots of people with social lives and who get good grades. Not everyone has to go to ethier or. Some people can do both.

that's what i said, a lot of them dont have balance. that's why during freshman year the B's are normal but as they go thru the years, they learn to balance

no senay, i have a lot of close current friends, ones who care about education.

to the op- sorry to invade your topic with off topicness. anyways, i think i read on another friend that most elite bs don't ask for your grades. however, if the bs you get into does ask for them, try to keep it above a 3.0 average. anything below is questionable, and i think at worst, they'd probably just ask you what is going on, not retract admission. there's someone else who had the same question, topic name was called retracting admission.

u mean ur friends are the nerdy, overachievers?

just because someone is considered an overachiever doesn't mean they are nerdy senay, it means they are smart and should be respected. as my mom likes to say, the smart kids are going to be your bosses when you grow up.
and no senay, i am friendly with most everyone at my school, not just a certain group.

I consider myself "nerdy!"

I mean, nerds are people who study hard and care about school. Besides, being a nerd isn't bad. I still have a social life, but I keep my priorities straight. Remember, many of the wealthy, successful people in our world are nerds!

yeaaa keep on telling yourself that the know-it-alls arent hated.

lollipop,

not their kids

I DON'T act like a "know it all!" And I DON'T act like I'm better than anyone else! I simply enjoy school and learning, and I don't think there's a problem with that.

I was going to reply to you Senay but it really is not worth it. I suggest you quit CC... You will make us all proud.

r u the kinda quiet one in school that hates it when kids interrupt the teacher from learning?
