How good does fin aid get?

I was wonderin what was like the limit of financial aid. I got a 39,780 grant. Anybody got a higher one?

and is it normal to expect me to earn 3,100!!! dolars as a freshman work-study? what do you have to earn if u are gettin fin aid?

I recieved approx 45,000 in grants

Wow, thats nearly the whole thing. did u have like an extermely low income? or how did u achieve that?

holy crap you guys got a lot of money. Is this because of penn's new "no-loan" financial aid policy? upenn_rocks, i would suspect that your $3000+ in workstudy is due to the aforementioned policy. When they say you need to work that much, it's really a privelege. You can choose to work up to that amount, and what you earn goes straight to your bank account so you can spend it on your own personal expenses. I worked around 10 hours a week here and had only $2100 of eligibility used up. Workstudy rocks cuz there's no fed income tax

Well I also have a loan of 2100 so dunno

Well, on the 2004 IRS tax forms, we had an adjusted gross income of about 8000, and 12,000 for 2005. That plus the fact that we didn't own a house (was living on church property last year as my dad's a pastor, but we moved last month to a house), but the housing benefit was calculated into the equation as 16,000 in "benefits", etc.

I'm not really sure how, but we look really poor on paper. What I think it is... is that my parents are willing to spend extra money to make life easier for me and give me an upperhand - the best lifestyle they can afford me. Thus I have my own car, computer, etc. But we are 40,000 in debt, and... yeah...

So colleges give me tons of money. Hopkins gave me about 44,000, too. All I have to pay for is plane tickets, "personal expenses", and books. I'm completely satisfied... it's almost unreal.
