How good does your GPA have to be?

wonwon, i see your point about the GPA. It is bloated without a doubt.

It was that you said honors and other courses dont mean squat

flyguy64....i dont think UVA will reject you...they might waitlist you but they wont reject you

@flyguy.. I said it didn't mean squat in our school.

My fault then

jaw , i was thinking the same thing as you. Hopefully if I do really well senior year I'll get in. Thanx for the encouragement.

Comment about my chances in the disability thread. Thats also me.

To get in UVA or William and Mary, you gotta be close to straight A's in all your classes, which should be mostly if not all AP/IB/Honors, assuming you aren't an URM, financially unfortunate, athlete, etc.

That's how it is around where I live. The only thing that separates UVA's from the Ivies are the SAT's.

I wouldn't say that, wmalum. While UVA admits tend to have great grades and ranks, unhooked admits to top ivies tend to be ranked in the top 1-3% of their class. UVA is a notch less selective than that for OOS'ers (probably on par with Cornell or Penn) and a notch even below that for instaters. Regardless, an unhooked applicant outside of the top 10% of his class would have one hella hard time getting into UVA (or W&M for that matter).
