How good enough is a 27 for a first time?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering how good enough is a 27 ACT score for the first time around with not aid or anything? I heard with a 27+ it can land you some money from colleges? Is this true?

Thanks

27 is good for most schools, but it is very subpar for top schools. It might yield some merit aid at low-ranked colleges.

would it be crazy difficult to raise my score from a 27 to a 31? Is a 4+ point increase common?

It is very uncommon among the general population, but it is realistic for those who prepare effectively.

I think its very possible. On my first ACT i got a 27 (26.5) took the april (29) and june- 31 (31.25) Considering I hardly practiced for the april and june i think its very realistic

Very possible. I went from a 24 to 29.

S2 got a 23 in middle school, a 32 as a sophomore, and a 36 as a junior. You absolutely don’t have to take your first score as the best you will ever do.

With a good deal of prep or just some luck, you can definitely improve your score from a 27 to a 31
