<p>It depends. Even with a 2340, if you got 800W 800R and 740M, it would hurt your chances to schools like MIT. However, based on your choices, I think you’re fine. 2340 is high enough so that no college will reject you specifically because of your score. I think focusing on essays/ECs is more important for you.

<p>^I’m so glad MITChris is an active member of these forums. His blog post gives a very insightful, firsthand account of how selective colleges perceive your application; specifically, your test scores. CC is perpetually under the influence of Standardized Test Fever, which truly is a shame. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to score above the 75th percentile on your SAT to have a decent shot at a university. Three-fourths of the students at any given school scored below that mark, and no, they were not all “hooked” applicants.</p>
<p>OP, a 2340 is a highly competitive score. Allow me to phrase it this way: if you get rejected from a school, I can guarantee you it won’t be because your SAT score was too low.</p>
