I need help and dont know where to post b/c i need feedback
my s and I are in the process of looking at schools for a BFA/BA in MT to transfer for the fall of 2012..(would then have completed 2yrs at American Univ)
Today..at Montclair State Univ in NJ, they offered him a spot in the BFA for MT program
for THIS FALL..2011..i know the audition process is stressful...plus his workload/rehearsal at AU (one of leads in Tommy)...this seems TOO perfect...they must see something in him and are willing to take the risk....are they just trying to fill slots?? good program??
i am just too traditional for this type of risk...HELP..just some feedback from people who might know more than me

You might try posting in the Montclair MT forum and see what response you get.

Hi, dad. Breathe. Now look at the top of this forum, under the sub-heading “Musical Theatre Schools”. Montclair has its own subforum, with lots of threads, arranged by most recent. Read like crazy. You can PM people who have posted current information (Lord knows I did a lot of that while my kiddo was choosing between acceptances!). Most program-specific questions are handled in the school’s thread.

Hopefully, you’ll get a chance to talk to the director of the program at Montclair (also a helpful thing for my d and me in decision-making). So sorry you are under such a time pressure! When did he audition for them? As a prospective transfer?

What is your son feeling in the process? Sounds like he’s stuck between 2 good places. Good luck as you make the decision…and come back and tell us what that good decision was!

thanks…am breathing now…didnt go on the link to the school b/c i wanted “outside” opinions abt the program
thats just it…really no audition…we went today to look and have a “talk/interview” with the director
my s went to AU as a math major (to get masters in teaching)…then dbl major(math/MT)
and has realized what he really wants…and its notmath…haha
only really serious since HS…but got a lead in a Shakespeare last yr and a lead in Tommy for october at AU
My s was looking for fall of 2012 b/c of the audition process…knows he would take a hit on starting as a freshman…now this…it is what my s wants…his passion his heart and soul are in this

I guess i am new to this…when i go on Montclairs blog there is nothing…do i add a post and see if someone answers…how do i look at past blogs??
thanks

If you can’t see any of the older threads on the Montclair forum, you may have to change a setting in your own profile. Click on "My Control Panel (see the far left side of the blue bar near the top of the page). Locate “Settings and Options”, in red. Under that, click on “Edit Options”. Scroll waaay down to the “Thread Display Options” box. For the “Default Thread Age Cut Off”, select “Show all threads” from the dropdown. Then “Save Changes” at the bottom.

This should allow you to see all the older threads that might have been posted prior to whatever the default cutoff was.

thank you…
