Should I take the sat again, if i got an 1840 on my first try?

Welcome to CC!
It really depends on where you want to attend college. While 1840 isn’t a bad score, it isn’t going to set your application too far above average. At any rate, in my opinion I suggest a 2nd time.

It Depends on where you wanna apply. To most CCers, it isn’t a great score. In comparison to the country, it’s about 84th percentile, meaning that you did better than 84% of the other people who took it. That’s pretty good in my opinion. Should you take it again? My answer is yes. You could score a lot better with more studying. Most people who take it again do better the second time. Who knows, you might be able to pass that nice 2k mark. If you do worse on test day, you can always cancel your scores, or use score choice so colleges don’t see the bad score. You got nothing to lose, besides study time, a Saturday morning and some cash ;), and a lot to gain. The difference between a 1840 and a 2000 could make or break your application. Good Luck!
