How good is CMU Engineering?

<p>I'm going to study engineering in college and i am going to apply to Carnegie Mellon. But before i do, i want to get some insight as to how good this college is? How good are the professors? the classes? is the engineering program very rigorous? are your peers extroverts/introverts? are there good looking girls on campus? these are some of the things i look at before i apply to a college and i want to get your opinions on them. thanks</p>

<p>College: is exteremely good and amongst the top 10 rated (read some of these [Quick</a> Facts](<a href=“http://www.cit.cmu.edu/about_cit/]Quick”>Page not found! - College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University))
The professors: I hear fun stories about other engineering fields’ professors, but at least in ECE, they are really funny, engaging and very very helpful. For instance, one of my professors hid an error on purpose in his lecture slides every lecture and if somebody could spot the error, he would take them out to lunch. Also, the best thing about CMU in my opinion is that professors are more than willing to help you out if you need it. I remember I wasn’t doing very well in one class and I asked one of the professors for help and he met with me every week and explained things until I understood them, and he didn’t give up after a few tries. So everyone is passionate about their jobs here, and because it’s a smaller school, the teacher:student is very good
Rigor: as any other top engineering school, it is a <em>lot</em> of work. You can’t expect to spend 1-2 hrs a hw like you maybe did in high school. Some core engineering classes can take you about 20+ hrs a week including lectures/recitations/labs and hws/studying
Peers: In CIT, the smaller populated majors are very close together and you are very likely to have same classes all the time and see/work/hang out with kids in your major. Mechanical and Electrical eng are the two more populated majors, and you still have lots of people to talk to. Honestly, when people ask “Is CMU anti-social?”, there’s only one answer “Like any other college, you make it as social as you want to be”. Nobody is ever going to tell you to go away or not talk to you if you try to be friends with them. Your peers will try to help you if you ask for it, and you are expected to help your peers if you are asked.
Girls: Girls exist somewhere here, don’t worry, they’re not like Waldo or anything…:P</p>

<p>Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your help. I’m definitely applying as a transfer for next year</p>
