How good is Dame at med?

I really like Notre Dame, and it's one of my dream schools because of the bomb athletics, tradition, and steller academics. But is it good for medicine as a school or for placing people in med school? I'm an aspiring oncologist so I was wondering if anyone can help me with that

Now comes the chances part lol. sorry about that

As long as you hold that rank I think you are looking pretty good. You may want to shoot a bit higher on the SAT's, perhaps 1400+ on the old test (they still aren't really using the writing numbers) but I think given what you are saying you should have a good shot.

As for the pre-med program at Notre Dame it is very good but also very difficult. I am not sure who is on the board and who is gone for the summer but we do have some people from that program who can answers, such as Nemo. You may want to search back to some of the old threads where he responded to find out more because all I know is my perception and what I have heard from those threads. When you look at the acceptance rates from ND to medical school they are very high and you should be well prepared. However, ND's sciences, I have heard, are known for not having much grade inflation so it will be a challenge. The program is strong, however, and will prepare you well and get you where you want to go. I hope that helps a little at least, sorry that I don't have more info.

I posted some statistics about ND premed in another thread. I'm out of the country right now and don't have the info with me, but you can check those out if you're willing to search for them. They should give you a rough idea of the quality of the program.

How did you mess up your sophomore year?

You got a couple of Bs, so what?

Unfortunately, with how ND's admissions have been of late, I can understand why people view a couple of B's as a mess up. It is sad, I don't think it is right, but it is the way it seems to be nowadays :(. Then again, there is me who had a 3.5 GPA in high school and am now at ND :) granted via transfer but nonetheless. I swear, I think we are too selective as crazy as that is. I know there is nothing you can do really, you only have so many seats, but it is nuts.

it's only going to get worse, what with the Weis/Clausen effect... but that just means the standard of students will be higher at ND. Is that such a bad thing?

A couple of B's is screwing up. I had 2 B+'s on my app, rest all A's and got waitlisted from ND with a 1500 SAT, so a B definitely means that you messed up.

I still think that is nuts CK, for what it is worth :(.
