IS = International Studies? If so you should really have a look at the Culture and Politics major within the School of Foreign Service: [Culture & Politics - CULP Major - Georgetown University](http://bsfs.georgetown.edu/majors/culp/)

Yes I meant International Studies :)

BUT, I was actually asking how good the Anthropology Dept. is…Sorry if there was confusion.

Anyone?

The basic answer is that Georgetown’s anthropology department is good, but I wouldn’t classify it as outstanding. It’s a fairly small department and until 2008, it was actually part of the sociology department. The professors in anthropology are quite good, but I would say the department is still finding its way in the world.

On the other hand, the Culture and Politics (CULP) is a long-established and genuinely outstanding program. It combines, in essence, international studies, sociology, and anthropology into a coherent program. As someone who is interested in both anthropology and international studies, you may find that it’s just what you’re looking for.
