Hi all, I'm going to be a senior in the fall, and I plan on sending a music supplement of me playing violin to the colleges I'm applying to. I will be mostly applying to very select colleges. I recorded a rough supplement a few days ago of me playing the Fuga from the Bach Sonata in G minor and Paganini's Caprice #7. Can you guys give me a listen and tell me how much a supplement would help, if at all? Thanks.

A music supplement would probably be reviewed by someone in the music department. A casual listener on here isn’t going to be able to tell you anything meaningful.

I agree with RedSeven. There are some All-State musicians and other who have performed with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I’ve won a handful of competitions myself. But none of us are professionals. If you want lots of reviews, try [Violinist.com: The Violin Community](http://www.violinist.com/)

I could give it a listen, but I’m no professor of music.

And is this for showing extra-curriculars or is it for an actual music program like the Columbia-Julliard dual thing? Or for admission to the music school or a conservatory?

It’s for an arts supplement to top colleges. (Mainly the HPYS bunch.) I have no intention to major in music or take part in a music degree program, but I may be still interested in playing during college.

Also, the recording quality’s quite crappy, I’ll rerecord in the fall after some polishing and with better equipment.
