I’m a junior in HS & I have started making my list of colleges for next year, Cal Poly is my first choice so far (and I think it will stay that way) the major I am interested in is Graphic Communications. I just wanted to know how good is this program. I know Cal Poly is famous for engineering and architecture, but GrC?
any type of info. about the program would be helpful, Thanks!

My friend was accepted back in December for Graphic Communications, so I think I can offer some insight. Cal Poly’s GC program isn’t renowned, per se, but it is unique in the sense that it even offers a GC program. Looking at the major offerings of the other California public schools (or even schools in the rest of the nation for that matter), Cal Poly and Davis are really the only contenders. The other schools tend to offer a fabricated communications program that experiments with the graphics side, but (from my research at least) Cal Poly and Davis are the only two schools in California that have strong, dedicated GC programs. Hope this helps!

**Note: If you decide to look into Davis, the major there is called Technocultural Studies

@jackechan Thanks a lot! I had not thought about Davis, I will definitely look into it.
If it isn’t too much to ask, do you think you could tell me your friend’s stats for when he got in? I’m thinking about applying early decision.

My friend had a 3.8 or 3.9 CSU GPA I believe and a 28 ACT. She applied early decision. I have seen people accepted into GC with stats a lot lower than that though, so you should be fine! I just got accepted for business and I committed to CP so hopefully I’ll see ya there next year. Best of luck in your college process!

Alright thanks a lot! my current CSU gpa is 4.06 & by the end of junior year hopefully it’ll be around 4.15 & I still have to take the ACT/SAT. I really hope I get in.

Yeah you should definitely get in with those stats. Hopefully you’ll become part of the SLO family! See ya there
