Hi, Does anyone have any feedback on the Interior Design prrogram at RIT - Rochester Institute of Technology?
I understand it's a small program at their school, there are only about 80 total undergraduate students, and it seem spretty selective. Out of last year's 70 applicants, only 25 were accepted.
Thanks.

We visited six months ago and spoke to the head of the department. I think it’s a solid program. The negatives are location (at least, for my D, who wants to ultimately end up in NYC) and weather. Where did you find that particular statistic about only 25 being accepted? I didn’t think it seemed too hard to get into. It does seem to be one of the few (only???) programs that has mostly women, in contrast to the rest of the school, which is mostly men. The studio looked on par with those that we’ve seen at other interior design programs/art schools.

Thanks for the info, they gave me the 70 and 25 numbers when i just called the school now. They said last year
70 applied and 25 were accepted. My daughter also likes the warmer weather and is looking south. What other schools is your daughter looking at for Interior Design?

^^Someone on another thread has a D at Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL if you’re looking for warmer weather.

She’s looking at RISD, Pratt, and Syracuse also.

A good friend of ours is a successful interior designer. His success is based on the quality of his work and word of mouth referrals with the upper class. I honestly don’t know what school he went to.
